Internship - My time with the MotionMiners
Hi Daniel, thanks for taking the time for some feedback. Could you tell us a little bit about your background and why you wanted to join us?
I'm currently in rehab for my master's degree in logistics. In view of my upcoming master thesis I am currently doing a three-month internship in the area of sales and projects at MotionMiners in Dortmund. Since I already had the chance to do several internships in larger companies and groups, I deliberately decided to do the internship at the MotionMiners. So I could gain first experiences and impressions in the world of start-ups and get to know the daily work routine in a young company. I found the technological background of the MotionMiners very exciting.
How does working in a start-up differ from working in larger companies?
After I started my internship I quickly became aware of the differences to my previous internships. This applies not only to the work content, but also to the culture within the company. The tasks are very broad and range from current, customer-specific topics to longer-term analysis tasks. Visits to customers and integration into ongoing projects are also part of the internship from the very beginning. On my second working day, for example, I was already familiarized with the exchange of hardware at a customer. During the internship, you quickly take on responsibility and can allocate your time to the various tasks independently and flexibly. In addition, the flat hierarchies and the relaxed working atmosphere within the young team encourage you to ask questions openly and to get involved in considerations and discussions beyond your own tasks.
What do you particularly like about working at the MotionMiners?
Overall, working at the MotionMiners is very diversified due to the different tasks. There are only few standard tasks and due to the different customer projects I get valuable insights into the logistic processes of different companies. Personal tip: existing foosball experience is definitely helpful for a successful office everyday life.
How do you plan to proceed in the future?
After the internship I will continue working at MotionMiners as a student trainee and write my master thesis on the side. My weekly working hours can be flexibly arranged. The topic was already familiar to me before the internship. Since the products of MotionMiners are constantly developing, I will deal with how the offered solutions can be improved by additional elements to generate an added value for customers.
